There are many ways in job description to differentiate a wireman and a technician. Both have to know the basic rule that is Ohms Law, Cable size rating and schematic circuit.
Technician mostly will take electrical/electronic engineering course, then come the PCB. Most electrician dont want to go into PCB issue cause its not their detail of work. Capacitors, diode, resistors, transistors, heat sink, solenoid, I.C Chips/wafer and many more small items.
Being an electrician on the other hand likely to pull in the cables for power distribution in an area whereby the electrical circuit is given by the electrical engineer of the competent electrician. Some similiar in parts used/installed, capasitors, switches, contactors, relays, fuses, circuit breaker etc.
Perhaps electrician works on bigger cables or the technician goes to smaller cables with smaller voltage.
In my opinion if you need an Autogate system install, it can be done by the electrician because the circuit is not difficult for an electrician to do but when the system fails who is able to identify whether the problem is from the main board, power supply, transformer, remote receiver/controller, door lock solenoid, circuit timer or the setting in the main board amp/timer cut off or the motor that drive the arm. Who do we call?
